The below post is by Jesus Figueroa, a member of the MBA Class of 2014, profiling his recent experience at the NSHMBA Career Conference.
This weekend I attended the NSHMBA (National Society of Hispanic MBAs) Conference and Career Expo in Orlando. This annual conference is the main professional development event put together by NSHMBA, a national organization dedicated to building and advancing Hispanic leadership through graduate management education and professional development. Just one weekend after the National Black MBA Association Conference, I along with many GBS classmates traveled to Orlando to meet with some of the 200+ companies and over 2,500 students and professionals attending the event. It was a great opportunity to connect with recruiters, interview for summer internships or full-time positions, and get to know my classmates outside of the campus setting – and just one mile away from Sea World! (The convention center, of course, was the main attraction).
I was very pleased and confident with the preparation we received from the GBS Career Center throughout the first eight weeks of the year ahead of attending the conference. The two national conferences mark the beginning of the recruiting calendar – here’s to all of us as we pursue our goals this year and beyond.
