I picked the photo of the latest whiteboard Emory athletic calendar in the Woodruff Physical Education Center (“WoodPEC”) not because it has any real relevance to MBA school but because I find life on a D-III campus to be rather quaint in its low key approach to varsity sports. Fun fact: Emory is in the “University Athletic Association” with these athletic powerhouses; Brandeis, Carnegie Mellon, Univ. of Chicago, Case Western Reserve, NYU, Rochester, and Wash. U. St. Louis. Don’t hold your breath to hear one of these schools repped in Monday Night Football any time soon.
Lots going on with the one year class of late:
- Christine, a DPT (Doc. Physical Therapy)/MBA dual degree candidate, completed the Chicago Marathon last weekend, her first. Andy, a member of the two year class, knocked it out as well. Great job guys!
- Our classmate Graham’s wife (a GBS Evening MBA grad) gave birth to their first child a few days ago. That is the second child born to our class of 48 in 5 months on campus, which works out to a rate of 0.1 children per person per annum thus far for the students in the One-Year Accelerated Class of 2013. The two year class, which had been shut out (or was pitching a shutout) for the entirety of their 14 months on campus, responded late in the week via John Scott and Mrs. John Scott. Way to get on the scoreboard.
- Fall recruiting season is in full swing. The CMC is doing a great job bringing quality employers to campus and it seems like GBS students are making the most of interview opportunities. I’m hearing good chatter from One-Years on prospects with Capgemini, IBM, AT&T, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and Coca-Cola among many others.
Until next time,
Chris
