The below post is by Leena Murthy, an MBA14, who is concentrating in Healthcare and currently serves as a 1st Year Representative for the Goizueta Healthcare Association and the Student Activities Board.
On Friday, October 12th, all of the first and second year MBAs participated in the 2012 Goizueta Career Connection, affectionately known as “GCC” by everyone at Goizueta. GCC is an annual event put on by the Career Management Center, which gives students a great opportunity to network and speak with companies in an intimate setting. We started out the event at the Miller-Ward Alumni House as groups of 4-5 students rotating to different tables and spent about 20 minutes at each table, chatting with company representatives. The conversations ranged from casual Q&A sessions to practicing behavioral interview questions with some companies actively evaluating students for future interview opportunities. Immediately following the “speed networking” session, all of the first years, recruiters, and the rest of the Goizueta MBA Community (second years, evening MBAs, One Year students and alums) were invited to a local restaurant, Rathbuns, for more informal networking.
The networking event at Rathbuns was amazing! The CMC arranged for light hors d’oeuvres and drinks, and plenty of great company. I want to emphasize how delicious the food was – Rathbuns served scallops, mini sandwiches, beef skewers, and lots of other appetizers. I spent the evening chatting with representatives from Accenture, McKesson,
Deloitte, and many other companies. With Block 2 exams around the corner, I also wanted to spend time with my fellow classmates. The evening session gave all of us an opportunity to unwind and relax (after networking, of course). Overall, GCC was a wonderful way to get reacquainted with recruiters and to ask some of the pressing questions we’ve been wanting to ask – it was another great event hosted by the CMC!
