Mandela House – Part of visiting Soweto was stopping by the Mandela House, which now preserves the history and legacy of the Mandela family. We had lunch right across the street with traditional South African cuisine… yum!
Apartheid Museum, South Africa – Each of us received an admission ticket that was either “nonwhite” or “white” and had to enter in separate doors based on our classification, setting the tone for the museum before we even entered.
Primary School – My favorite part of the trip! Visiting the Nkholi Primary School in Soweto was amazing. These kids were absolutely adorable and were so excited about taking pictures with us and performing for us. I wanted to take a few home with me, but that probably wouldn’t have been appropriate.
