Nelson Mandela and hundreds of other political prisoners were held at Robben’s Island without due process and in worse conditions than murderers.
Our tour guide was also a political prisoner, held at Robben’s Island for almost a decade from the age of 18 on. He shared his very personal story with us, and afterwards we talked about the struggle and importance of not harboring hatred in your heart.
We head to the top of table mountain just after lunch. I’m horribly afraid of heights, but my classmates kept me calm and distracted as we made the steep ascent in our rotating cable car.
Table Mountain is awesome! I feel like I’m conquering my fear of heights up here, the views of the beaches and city below definitely help!
Despite the beautiful views of the mainland its hard to enjoy, knowing how many people suffered and died here.
