Emory Veteran Dinner at President House
This spring veterans across Emory convened at Emory University President Claire Sterk’s home for dinner and a conversation about student life. Hosted by Dr. Kirk Elifson, Vietnam War veteran, professor in the Rollins School of Public Health and husband of President Sterk, student-veterans from across the university enjoyed conversation and camaraderie with supportive faculty and staff. Remarks were made by LTG (Ret) Ken Keen, Goizueta’s Associate Dean of Leadership Programs, and by Tim Hsia, Co-Founder of the Service 2 School organization.
At the end of the dinner, Emory Veteran Association co-presidents (and Goizueta MBA students) Charles Stewart and Steven Blackmon presented Dr. Elifson and President Sterk a copy of The Personal Memoirs of Ulysses S. Grant, signed by all the veterans in attendance. The inscription inside, above the signatures, reads as follows:
“President Sterk and Dr. Elifson, Thank you for your service to and support of veterans’ education and leadership. Emory University is an institution that understands the benefits veterans provide to the educational landscape. We look forward to sustaining this partnership and continuing to make Emory University the premier destination for undergraduate and graduate veterans.”
