Evening MBA Week in the Life: Alex Hale – Monday
6:30 am: I have class tonight, so I need to get a morning workout in. LA Fitness midtown is my first destination of the week. Balancing school and work can be a real time crunch, so I dedicate myself to staying fit even if it means some early morning workouts.
8 am: It’s time for a busy week of work at Georgia-Pacific. Our office is located in downtown Atlanta. We are one of the world’s leading manufacturers and marketers of tissue, packaging, paper, pulp, and building products. Georgia-Pacific is an independently managed and operated company of Koch Industries, Inc., one of the world’s largest private companies.
9 am: I’m at my desk. My responsibilities include managing our product lines of bath and facial tissue that we sell to businesses through our network of distributor partners across North America. I find the work challenging, but it also very rewarding to feel like you have a real impact on the profitability of the business.
5:45 pm: This is the result of a hectic day at the office. I’m eating left over pizza from a lunch meeting on my way to class.
6:15 pm: I made it across town to arrive at the Goizueta Business school campus. Class starts at 6:30 on Monday and Wednesday this semester. Tonight, I have Financial Reporting and Analysis with Professor Kadous.
9:30 pm: I am headed home at the end of a long day. I feel like I accomplished a lot today, but it is only the beginning of a long week.
