Voice of Goizueta Blogger: Daniel Jansen – Relaxing and Networking at a Braves Game
Last week I was able to escape school long enough to attend a Braves game with Net Impact members from Emory, Georgia Tech and UGA, as well as a dozen or more working professionals who are members of the Net Impact Atlanta Professional Chapter. We met with one of the stadium facilities managers before the game to learn about what Turner Field is doing in terms of sustainability. Surprise to all of us: a stadium just 15 years old is considered outdated, and many of the common sustainable design elements going into new stadiums are so capital intensive that they are not considered–a new stadium will be built before you start seeing an ROI. Yes, even stadium facilities managers care about the ROI of rainwater harvesting.
It was a perfect night to relax and get to know other like-minded MBAs in the Atlanta area, and we made some plans for meeting up at the Net Impact Conference in Baltimore and for more joint events later in the year. It feels good to know that I have a great NI network after graduation for both business and fun. And the Braves won!
