Aside from your classmates, what was the key part of the school’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you?
Goizueta’s smaller class size allows professors and advisors to really focus on individual students. The staff at Goizueta are beyond professional and knowledgeable which I knew first-hand from my undergraduate experience. Seeing how Goizueta organized their virtual welcome weekend, going so far as to send the “welcome weekend KEGS cups” to accepted students’ homes and organizing a virtual 5k proved that Emory was adaptive to the challenges we are currently facing and furthered my confidence in the program.
What excites you most about getting your MBA at Goizueta? What makes you most nervous?
I am most excited to learn from top professors about what makes a strong leader and to work on improving myself. I am most nervous to take a break from my career for two years in hopes that this process will lead to long-term success, but I have every faith in Goizueta’s ability to position me for the right opportunities upon graduation.
Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far:
My biggest accomplishment in my career thus far was planning an event that was attended by over 4,000 attendees and covered in top media outlets.
What led you to pursue an MBA at this point in your career?
I came to a point in my career where I realized I wanted to pursue opportunities that would set me up for long-term success. One day I hope to lead a media company, and I want to make sure that I have a complete understanding of all the aspects of running a successful business.
What other MBA programs did you apply to?
Georgetown, NYU
What was the most challenging question you were asked during the admissions process?
If your option A career path doesn’t work out, what is your option B?
How did you determine your fit at various schools?
In choosing the right program first I looked at the top ranked graduate business programs and narrowed the list down by location (I wanted to be in a larger city on the east coast to be closer to family). Once I had a smaller list of schools, I reviewed the academic programming and recruiting to make sure that the program aligned with my short-term and long-term goals. Additionally, I reviewed the clubs and spoke to current and former students to gauge the culture. Luckily, having attended Goizueta as an undergrad, I had a strong understanding of the culture and professionalism that Goizueta maintains, which was a large factor in my decision.
What was your defining moment and how did it prepare you for business school?
My defining moment was when a coworker left the small startup where I was working, and I soon had to take on a large amount of work across all functional areas of the company. This challenge made me realize just how capable I was of someday starting and leading my own company. I am prepared for all the challenges that business school may hold, and I hope to soak up as much information as possible so that I can be the best leader possible.
What is the most important attribute that you are seeking in an MBA employer – and why is that important?
The most important attribute that I am seeking in an MBA employer is growth. I hope to work at a company that allows me to continue to learn and will position me for long-term success.
