Beyond the Books: Goizueta Students Share Insights from Summer Internships
This summer, Goizueta students from a range of programs transitioned from the classroom to the workplace, immersing themselves in diverse industries and roles. These experiences offered them a chance to apply their knowledge, build valuable connections, and gain firsthand insights into their future careers. Below, we highlight some of our students’ reflections and key takeaways from their summer internships.
Consulting Adventures: MBA and BBA Students Thrive at Boston Consulting Group
This past summer, nine Goizueta students had the incredible opportunity to intern at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Atlanta as Summer Associates and Summer Consultants. These students—Chloe Chen 25BBA, Tom Moak Jr. 25MBA, Jack Bershad 25BBA, Raaj Kumar 25BBA, Sarah Kim 25BBA, Sasha McNair 25MBA, Swechcha Kurapati 25MBA, Saanvi Sood 25BBA, and Samuel Le 25MBA—not only gained invaluable consulting experience but also made lasting memories. They traveled across the country, cheered on their favorite teams at the COPA America game in Atlanta, and wrapped up the summer with a celebratory event at the Georgia Aquarium with friends and family. We’re proud to share that all of the Atlanta office interns received full-time offers!
Empowering Communities through Venture Capital: Sean Michael Crenshaw’s Summer at GreenLight Fund
Sean Michael Crenshaw 26BBA (Finance/Marketing/Film & Media Management) spent his summer interning at GreenLight Fund, where he witnessed the transformative power of venture capital in supporting underprivileged communities in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
Reflecting on his experience, Sean shared, “GreenLight Fund’s mission is to invest in innovative philanthropic organizations that address specific needs that are not already being met. I was excited to see how the investment industry can be used to make social change.”
Sean’s most significant takeaway from his internship was the disparity in funding for minority nonprofit organizations. “During my internship, I was able to be a part of the inaugural ‘Amplify Convening,’ which brought together 15 BIPOC-led nonprofits interested in replication, expansion, and increased financial stability. Being a part of this event was inspirational and emphasized the importance of supporting minority-led philanthropic endeavors.”
Leading with a CEO Mindset: Tanish Meher’s Transformative Internship at HP
Tanish Meher 25MBA reflects on his summer at HP, where he gained valuable insights into strategic thinking:
“The biggest takeaway from my internship at HP has been the importance of thinking like a CEO in all my work. Meeting with several Fortune 100 executives, I learned that approaching tasks with a CEO mindset means taking ownership of my work and focusing on critical aspects that drive decisions. For instance, when presenting a recommendation, instead of diving into multiple iterations and detailing both the positives and negatives—which often confused my audience—I now concentrate on the most important points. This mindset helps me think about my audience, and tell my story concisely, driving discussion and effective decision-making.”
Building a Bright Future: Laelah Aaron’s Summer at PwC
Laelah Aaron 26BBA had an unforgettable summer in New York, interning as a PwC Deals Consulting Start Intern.
“Over the last seven weeks, I had the opportunity to work on a Pro Bono Consulting Project with five of my fellow Start Interns, and complete an individual case study through a Deals Consulting lens. From engaging in these projects to participating in impactful discussions during Start National Training, Women in Deals events, and countless coffee chats, I have gained a wealth of knowledge that will undoubtedly shape my future career,” says Laelah.
Expressing her gratitude, Laelah adds, “I want to extend my gratitude to my coaches, Geoffrey Husted, Shahbaz Rajwani, and Victoria Heim, for their guidance. I would also like to thank Haley (Scudder) Brown and Keyanea Marrow for their unwavering support throughout this past year. As I move forward, I am excited to apply the skills and experiences I have gained as a PwC intern to new challenges and opportunities at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School and beyond!”
Connor Dalton’s MBA Journey: Key Lessons from His Internship at EY-Parthenon
Connor Dalton 25MBA shares his top insights and takeaways from his time at EY-Parthenon:
- Unforgettable Office Events: “My favorite thing about my internship so far is the events held by your local office. The internship coordinator team puts in so much work to provide us with fun and unique experiences around the city that you otherwise might not go out of your way to experience for yourself.”
- The Power of Resiliency: “My biggest takeaway is that being successful in this line of work requires resiliency.”
- Landing the Internship: “If you want to land an internship at EY-P, reach out to practitioners to learn about their professional experiences but also about them as people. And, of course, practice case interviews.”
- Advice for Future Interns: “No matter how much you think you know going into your internship, you don’t know that much. There is so much to learn, and the professionals you get to work with are a treasure trove of knowledge, so listen and ask questions.”
Justin Waters’ Journey at Wells Fargo: Key Insights and Memorable Moments
Justin Waters 25BBA reflects on his internship at Wells Fargo:
“This summer, one of my favorite memories at Wells Fargo was being able to easily connect with upper management in various departments and learn about what they do during our orientation week in Orlando, FL.
My biggest takeaway is how broad and important credit has on businesses and the economy. Working in ABL, Wells Fargo has been able to help so many organizations that they’re #1 in that product vs any commercial bank!
My biggest piece of advice is to put yourself in uncomfortable situations. Give yourself the grace to learn and grow from these experiences–this includes making mistakes! Being an intern is the ultimate pass to learn by trial and error because they won’t be as willing to throw you a bone once you’re working there as a full-time employee post-graduation.
Since transferring to Goizueta my junior year, I was blown away at the amount of resources I had, use it to your advantage!”
Congratulations to all our students for completing such impactful and exciting internships this summer! We can’t wait to welcome you back to campus and see how these experiences shape your journey at Goizueta and beyond.
