Q: Why did you decide to pursue an EMBA program? What skills were you hoping to gain or changes were you hoping to make professionally?
Decided to pursue EMBA to sharpen my overall business skills and ability to network and learn from other executives from different industries. Was hoping to gain a different perspective on how to analyze and address business challenges and opportunities and be able to bring new ideas and perspectives on how to make an impact in the different businesses I work with and for.
Q: Talk about your experiences at Goizueta. How did the program meet or exceed your expectations?
Far exceeded my expectations. Quality of the program was phenomenal, professors were excellent and able to provide a good mix of theory and practice, classmates were unbelievable — coming from different backgrounds, geographies and industries, with a wealth of experience. I learned from them each and every day and still keep regular connections with some of them.
Q: How have you been able to take what you learned at Goizueta and apply it in your current position? Please give examples.
Applied strategy principles in several of my projects and how to better understand industry, competitive landscape and apply go to market approaches. This was particularly useful on some of my digital health projects.
On operations management, took several of the principles from class to understand how to streamline processes on our back office operations, financial processes, technology development with fairly successful outcomes in general.
Q: How have you grown professionally as a result of your Goizueta experience?
Better equipped with tools and principles to enable better analysis and drive decision. More business-oriented thinking process and being able to link the overall organization objectives and goals to specific strategies.
Q: What did you learn about yourself in Goizueta’s MBA program that surprised you?
I like to be an entrepreneur. I did not realize that, but since the entrepreneurship class, always looking at new ideas and how to get them to market…not sure I will succeed though 🙂
Q: What advice or recommendation would you give to someone thinking about pursuing an MBA at Goizueta?
Just go for it…and enjoy every minute of it. Time goes fast, and you have a great opportunity to build a network of people that you could keep in the future.
