Term 3 Reflections: From Snowy Beginnings to Powerful Connections

Term 3 at Goizueta Business School began with something truly magical: snowfall in Atlanta! The entire Emory campus felt serene, fresh, and otherworldly, like we were walking on clouds. For someone like me, who grew up in the tropics, witnessing back-to-back snow days was nothing short of a dream.
With this refreshing start came a new wave of learning. Our core classes like Quant Strategies, Investments and Portfolio pushed us to think analytically and apply concepts in real time. What made this term even more exciting was the chance to explore electives. From Advanced Corporate Finance to Currency & Commodity Markets, and Advanced Real Estate Finance, the range was diverse and practical—each course offering a different lens into the world of finance.
We also visited the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, this time picking up a gold bar—yes, really! That experience, combined with the momentum from our New York visit, grounded us even more deeply in the financial world.
The month also brought in unforgettable events. The CFA Society Atlanta’s Annual Forecast Dinner was inspiring. Meeting industry leaders and hearing keynote speaker Richard Fisher (Former President of the Dallas Fed) talk about monetary policy, trade negotiations, and leadership during crises gave me a whole new appreciation for the craft of finance. It was a powerful reminder of why I’m chasing that CFA charter.

Then came the National Collegiate Table Tennis Association (NCTTA) Divisionals, where I had the honor of representing Emory. Reaching the quarterfinals was exhilarating—it offered a refreshing break from the finance grind and served as a celebration of balance, dedication, and team spirit.

Our Finance Industry Networking Event, co-hosted with CFA Society Atlanta, brought recruiters and professionals from firms like BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, KPMG, and more to campus. The evening was filled with insight, connection, and clarity on what lies ahead. Seeing the strength of our Goizueta network in action was incredibly empowering.
And because Emory knows how to mix learning with life, we wrapped up the term courtside at an Atlanta Hawks NBA game! Nothing like cheering with your cohort to remind you how far you’ve come—and how much fun you’re having on the way.

As we move toward the final leg of the program, I find myself caught between feeling brand new and incredibly at home. Every chapter here is fresh, every experience meaningful. With just a few months left, I’ve already started missing this place—the people, the pace, and the city that became my first home away from home.
